Ok, so I'll admit it, I'm a junkie. I have a real problem with cosmetics. I want everything I see even if I never, ever use it. What is wrong with me? Was a color deprived as an infant? Perhaps cute packaging deprived? I don't know, but sometimes I wonder what I could have today if I had all the money I have spent on cosmetics over the years. I think I could probably own a nice new car, easily.

So what is my latest obsession? Well my dears, I'll tell you: stage makeup. I stumbled onto a picture of Mehron's Paradise Pastels palette and I started looking for reviews. The colors were spectacular, as I am a color girl (even if people think I am too old to wear them), and everyone was raving about them. So, naturally, I had to get my hands on one.
 
Everyone that was swapping or selling on different sites seemed to want a lot for this product, so I did a little more legwork and found the whole palette for under $27 with free shipping. I received it in 3 days! Now, I am no pro with working in creamy colors, but I thought I would just "see what these babies could do." So, I layered them, they didn't run together or blend together when I layered them, though they would have if that's what I had wanted, and the colors were exactly the same on as they were in the palette! Super duper pigments in a product that lasts to beat the band!

So, I've been on a tangent to try some of the other offerings out there. I found a superbly cheap place to buy things: www.fxsupply.com and I can't wait to try out the UV colors that are neon and glow under blacklight.

So when I began exploring these sites and reading reviews, there were tons of other things that I just had to have:

• Mixing liquid that you use instead of water, that waterproofs the color and is not stiff when it dries
• Clear glitter gel that you mix your sparkles into and when it dries, the glitter will not flake or fall off
• Barrier Spray that you put on BEFORE your makeup that keeps perspiration from breaking through
• Final Seal spray that you spritz over your completed makeup and keeps it from budging until you take it off

Now, here's the deal ladies, I have tons of products I haven't been able to use properly because MAC doesn't make these products available to the common folk: mixing medium, eyeliner gel medium, etc. So now I've gotten it dirt cheap. The tube of gel was only $2.50!!!  Yes, I can make my own glycerin mixing medium, but there is a product called Liquiset  that I can use to line with or just paint over something or spritz it that is water-proof and smudge-proof, AND it costs around $3!!!

If the colors and products I've ordered are everything I want them to be, I just might have to kiss the high priced products goodbye, no matter how pretty the packaging is. Why should I spend $15 for an e/s when the alternative costs about half (for a powdered e/s or glitter e/s) and is wayyyyy more pigmented and super long-lasting?

Update: So I have to tell you, I am loving the items I've bought. The barrier spray for summer has worked like a charm to keep the sweat from washing away my makeup.

Final Seal is to die for when it comes to setting your makeup, but you have to be sure not to spray too close or to over spray. This will leave your face feeling stiff. Also, if you dip a brush in it to use for liner, etc, be sure to clean your brush at once because it will turn rock hard and be difficult to bring back to original softness.

I love the Ben Nye powder e/s - super pigmented and easy to blend. But I'm not too big on the creme colours because you have to be very very careful with them or they will splotch or crease. You can always set them with powder and then spray them, but that is just too many steps for me. Grease paint just isn't something I'm good at working with because it never dries.
